Culinary Arts ~ Students will learn kitchen basics including food safety and handling procedures, meal planning and shopping, uses of kitchen tools and appliances and then finally, how to prepare healthy and delicious meals for breakfast, lunch, and dinner, as well as appetizers and desserts and everything in between! We'll strive to make cooking in the kitchen fun and enjoyable!
Math ~ Students will receive guidance and help with their own homeschool math curriculum, as well as participate in math and brain games to enhance those math skills, including how we use math in practical, real-life scenarios.
American Sign Language- In this ASL class, students will explore Deaf culture while learning the fundamentals of American Sign Language. They will master the alphabet, fingerspelling, and essential handshapes, along with basic vocabulary for introductions, colors, numbers 1-100, and common topics like food, time, and school signs. The course will also cover expressing emotions, discussing holidays, and engaging in conversations about everyday topics, fostering a deeper understanding and appreciation of the Deaf community.
Writing- 5th-8th- Students will develop their language skills using The Institute for Excellence in Writing program, which emphasizes clear and effective writing techniques. Fix It Grammar will strengthen their understanding of grammar, while Linguistic Development Through Poetry Memorization will enhance vocabulary and linguistic fluency.
9th- Students will use WriteShop to refine their writing skills and concurrently meet the high school requirements for graduation.
Literature- The class will explore classic literature and current best sellers that correspond to the year's topics, allowing students to connect their reading to their writing and grammar practice. This comprehensive approach ensures a well-rounded mastery of language arts.
Science- For Grades 5–8, Apologia provides a strong foundation in life, earth, and physical sciences, with a special emphasis on human anatomy and physiology. Students explore body systems such as the skeletal, muscular, respiratory, circulatory, and nervous systems through observation, models, experiments, and interactive activities. Hands-on investigations encourage students to ask questions, analyze how systems work together, and connect scientific concepts to everyday life, building both scientific literacy and curiosity.
9th Grade Friendly Physical Science develops strong scientific skills through experimentation, data analysis, and real-world applications, preparing them for advanced high school sciences such as biology, chemistry, and physics.
Classes change yearly, with high school following established graduation requirements.
History- The middle school Renaissance history course from Master Books brings history to life through engaging, hands-on, and project-based learning. Designed to help students move beyond memorization, this course immerses learners in the people, ideas, and cultural transformations that shaped the Renaissance.
9th grade- The high school world history course from Master Books provides a comprehensive and chronological study of global history, helping students understand how civilizations, cultures, and ideas have shaped the modern world. Through in-depth readings, primary source analysis, and guided discussions, students examine major historical events and movements from ancient civilizations through the modern era.
Physical Fitness- The physical fitness course for middle and high school students focuses on developing lifelong habits of health, movement, and personal wellness. This class promotes physical strength, endurance, flexibility, and coordination through age-appropriate exercises and structured activities. Students participate in a variety of fitness experiences, including cardiovascular training, strength and resistance exercises, flexibility routines, and skill-based activities. Emphasis is placed on proper technique, goal setting, and team building rather than competition. Lessons also introduce concepts of physical health, injury prevention, and the importance of regular physical activity.
Finance- Dave Ramsey’s Teen Personal Finance course equips students with practical money skills they can use for life. This class introduces foundational financial principles such as budgeting, saving, wise spending, debt avoidance, and goal setting, helping students build confidence in managing their personal finances. Through real-life scenarios, interactive activities, and guided discussions, students learn how to make informed financial decisions, understand the value of work, and develop healthy money habits. Topics include earning income, managing bank accounts, understanding credit, planning for future expenses, and setting financial priorities. The course emphasizes personal responsibility, critical thinking, and long-term planning, preparing students to navigate financial choices with wisdom and confidence as they move into adulthood.
Music- The music course for middle and high school students provides a well-rounded exploration of musical knowledge, skills, and appreciation. Students develop an understanding of music theory, rhythm, melody, and harmony while engaging in active listening and performance-based experiences. Designed to be both engaging and educational, this class nurtures musical expression, cultural awareness, and a deeper understanding of the role of music in society.
Art- Students will discover the fundamentals of drawing, exploring key elements such as line, shape, and perspective. Bible- The bible exploration class invites students to engage deeply with scripture through study, discussion, and reflection. This course helps students develop a foundational understanding of the bible’s structure, themes, and historical context while encouraging thoughtful exploration of its relevance to everyday life. Students study key passages from both the Old and New Testaments, explore major biblical narratives, and examine core themes such as faith, character, wisdom, and service. Lessons include guided discussions, personal reflection, and age-appropriate activities that promote critical thinking and meaningful application.
